What our Walk In Centres do

Our Walk In Centre are run by a team of highly skilled multidisciplinary staff, who can provide consultations, advice and treatment for minor injuries and illnesses in both children and adults.

These include:

  • Infections and rashes (N.B. if measles is suspected, you are advised to stay at home and phone your GP or NHS 111 for advice)
  • Coughs and flu-like symptoms
  • Ear ache and sore throats
  • Cuts and bruises
  • Minor burns and strains
  • Emergency contraception and advice
  • Insect and animal bites
  • Stomach aches and upsets
  • Urine infections
  • Minor new eye problems.

Please consider visiting a Walk In Centre before attending accident and emergency (A&E) with a minor injury or illness. A&E departments are for serious and life threatening injuries only.

Is the Walk In Centre the best option?

If you're not sure if a Walk In Centre is the best option for you, you can contact NHS 111 for advice. NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day; 365 days a year for any medical help which is needed fast, but is not a 999 emergency. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.

You should still dial 999 as normal in a medical emergency.
